Lojix SEO Tips
As a freebie here are some SEO tips to help you get started with optimising your website.
Researching the keywords to optimise your website for is the first place to start. If you try to optimise for keywords that either nobody searches for or are really competitive then you are probably going to waste a lot of time for no return.
For me the place to start is by looking at what your competitors are optimising their site for. When I say competitors I am talking about your competitors that rank high on the search engines.
The best way to find them is to type in a competitive keyword for your particular industry then research the keywords that the top sites rank for. You should be able to find software that will do this for you. I use ahrefs.
Once you have got a list of keywords split them into categories and match the categories up with the most relevant page on your site. So for example I found that SEO company in Sheffield was one of the top keywords for my industry. Since Sheffield is near to me I have a page dedicated to SEO in Sheffield so they are an easy match. Sometimes it isn't so obvious.
Next you want to make sure that you have these keywords in your content. Don't spam the words make sure they flow with the rest of your content. You should be writing the content for your readers not for search engines.
You also want to make sure that these keywords are in your meta tags and image alt tags.
Be careful not to replace existing tags that are already working well for you. You should check your Google webmaster tools account for the search terms that drive visits to the page you are working on before making any changes.
I track a lot of keywords so I use ranking software to monitor them but you can check by doing a manual search if you are only monitoring a few terms.
Be patient and see how the changes you have made make to your rankings.
From experience this shouldn't be a one off optimisation. I find that if you re visit the same page a few months later you can improve it further.
